WE ARE
Solis Ensemble
In a world that often feels divided, Solis Ensemble is committed to using music as a powerful force for connection. Bringing together some of the UK’s leading musicians and artists, our performances invite audiences to experience the profound bond between performer and listener, fostering a collective sense of humanity. As a group of musicians and artists passionate about chamber music, we believe in its unique ability to bridge cultural divides, offering a space for shared emotions and understanding. In times of uncertainty, music provides solace, reflection and hope.
Solis Ensemble musicians appear regularly as principal players with the London orchestras and as soloists and chamber musicians throughout the UK and internationally.
2025 sees the ensemble commissioning Luke Styles (composer) and Jacob Sam-la Rose (poet) in a new work of music and words, bringing contemporary poetic text and performance together with contemporary classical composition. Treating the text as a compositional element or the poetic voice as a musical collaborator; exploring relationships between sound, syntax and sense-making; mining for a commonly held emotive impulse, a fundamental effort to communicate that rings true on a human scale.
The completed 15 minute work will be performed by string trio and performance poet. The project explores the ways in which poetry and classical music can speak to each other to create something new. The new work has been booked for the 2025 Deal Festival (Kent/UK), and the 2025 Sound Festival (Aberdeen/Scotland).
During Autumn 2025/Spring 2026 the Ensemble will programme the new commission alongside string trios by Beethoven, Sibelius, Kodaly and Schubert.
